My dad pointed out to me that Ventura seems to be striking a Lenin-like pose on this website banner.  Hmmm.

I was in MN when Ventura beat two major party centrists to become MN governor.  It is interesting to me that he is trying to frame himself in a Leftist/Progressive light these days.  When he was gov his populism was all about popular gross consumption.  He fought to do such things as end ski mobile restrictions in state parks so that the SUV driving ski mobiling hordes from the suburbs could make even more noise and pollute even more in MN's wilderness areas.  The guy is a complete poser, in the manner that perhaps only a former professional wrestler could be.  Still, if he can educate some of the working classes with regard to the corporate takeover of America, good for him.

Speaking of Lenin, his birthday is this Friday - don't forget to make plans.

  1. If you are celebrating the birthdays of great mass murderers of history, don't forget Adolph's tomorrow.

He did not kill as many people as Stalin or Hitler, but he certainly ranks up there with the great mass murderers of history. He launched a reign of terror that Stalin only accelerated. Stalin did not start anything new, in that regard.

  5. "I'm not sure that bourgeoisie and aristocrats count as people", he said as he sat in his air conditioned home, in front of a personal computer, with a broad band internet connection... and with no sense of irony.

Why do pro-capitalists always pretend that our prosperity always depends on generalized commodity production? As if no one can ever critique capitalism because capitalism gave us everything we have. And supposedly no one can say anything unless they live in a shack or are starving to death. Newsflash, geniuses, plenty of people in capitalist countries are still starving to death, and the point is not some moralistic one: just because you have it better than so-and-so, you shouldn't complain. What bullshit.

Here's the deal: capitalism didn't give us shit. Capitalism doesn't make shit. Profits don't harvest crops or build houses. People do. Workers do. And how we organize these forces is the question, not some sort of third person pity party pissing contest about not being able to say anything because we are somehow priviledged. The worker doesn't need to thank the CEO for deigning to receive seven figure bonuses and throwing him out on the street without a job. He doesn't need to thank him when the bosses force people to work overtime, without benefits, in hazardous conditions, and so on. To do so is akin to arguing that the whore needs to thank her pimp for protecting her. Better yet:

  8. I love it how pro-capitalist trolls pretend that all that we have is due to the exploitive system that is production for profit, and how we need to shut up about capitalism if we don’t live in a hut and aren’t starving to death. Here’s a newsflash, geniuses, capitalism doesn’t produce shit. Workers do. That laptop wasn’t made by some CEO but some worker who was probably paid shit to make it. What, are we supposed to thank the bourgeoisie for giving their cronies seven figure bonuses, shutting down factories, and busting unions? What next, is the whore supposed to thank her pimp for “protecting” her? Better yet:

So spare me the pleas to play the vicarious pity party pissing contest about how we are supposed to love this system because we aren’t living in squalor and the bourgeoisie aren’t demanding to bed our wives as payment for being our feudal lords. We make the wealth of this country, not them.
