fragments of an attempted writing.

Dr. Tighe sent me this confession by Eamon Duffy.  It is among the most beautifully written and compelling that I have read, escaping so much of the rubbish put forth today promoting one's self&religion truth conquestory.

  1. I really wanted to name my son Eamon ('Adam'). But she who births them, names them in our family and she didn't go for it.

  2. The combination of Eamon and your last name, 123, is, I think, perfect. Please forward your wife's email so that I can convince her to have another child so that this name combination may take place.

  3. Odds are long to null of another child, and should another boy take lodging in her womb it is uncertain whether any of us would survive. She's threatened to join the rodeo were she to be found with twins, and I think the spectre of three little boys in the house would horrify her more than mere twins.
