Perhaps my favorite food in the world. Fresh okra, slathered in oil, salt generously applied (and sometimes onion powder or cayenne pepper in addition to the salt), and then baked until browned and sizzling hot.
Mention should also be made of okra sliced and sauteed (very briefly) in olive oil with fresh diced tomatoes, onions, crumbled bacon, salt, and pepper.
What's especially wonderful about this method is that the okra becomes creamy on the inside. Very different from fried okra (which I also revere).
